Embedded System Development

PALM implemented the KVM (Kilobyte Virtual Machine), a J2ME Java environment for Qualcomm's cdma handset. This product is currently being deployed in pilot mode for a variety of carriers that use the cdma chipsets from Qualcomm.

Our approach was to implement a "glue layer" which isolated the Sun Microsystems KVM code from the operating system, no changes were made to the Sun code.
In this way, we were able to support future KVM releases directly as they came from Sun.

PALM's Voice Navigator©, still under development, will use speech recognition to handle management, application launch, download, and execution for the handset user.
